About Us

Independent Advocacy for the Moments That Matter Most

Beacon Cancer Navigation was founded by Katherine Albert to help patients and caregivers manage the practical, administrative, financial-resource, organizational, and logistical burdens that often arise after a cancer diagnosis.

Our Mission

Navigating a Broken System on Your Behalf

The American healthcare system is extraordinary at treating cancer. It is far less equipped to support the human beings going through it. Appointments get lost. Insurance claims get denied. Families are left to decode medical jargon at 2am. Caregivers burn out silently.

Beacon Cancer Navigation exists to fill that gap. We are a private, non-clinical practice that operates as your personal guide through the oncology care system — coordinating logistics, sourcing financial resources, helping patients organize information and prepare questions for treatment discussions with their licensed healthcare professionals, and standing beside caregivers who are stretched beyond their limits.

We are not doctors. We do not diagnose or treat. What we do is ensure that the care your medical team provides is fully supported by the organizational, financial, and logistical infrastructure you need to get through this.

"Your Doctors Focus on the Clinical Care. We Manage the Chaotic Logistics."

This isn't just our tagline — it's the clearest description of what we do. Medical teams are focused on clinical outcomes. We are focused on everything else: the logistics, the finances, the paperwork, the preparation, and the people.

About the Founder

Bridging the Gap Between Clinical Care and Real Life

I'm Katherine Albert, the founder of Beacon Cancer Navigation — and a cancer survivor.

When I was diagnosed, I quickly discovered that surviving cancer isn't just a medical challenge — it's a logistical, financial, and emotional marathon that no one prepares you for. I sat in waiting rooms alone, overwhelmed by paperwork I didn't understand, unsure which questions to ask, and exhausted by the weight of managing my own care on top of everything else. I kept thinking: someone should be helping me navigate this. That person didn't exist for me. I made it through — but I never forgot how isolating and chaotic that experience was.

That experience, combined with 15 years working within the complex U.S. healthcare system through medical project management and clinical workflow coordination, showed me the same persistent gap from both sides: doctors are exceptional at treating the disease, but families are left entirely alone to manage the logistical chaos surrounding it.

I built Beacon Cancer Navigation to be the guide I wish I'd had — and the Command Center that families, employers, and medical clinics desperately need.

For Patients & Families

A cancer diagnosis shouldn't mean you have to take on a second full-time job in medical administration. My mission is to handle the heavy lifting — from tracking down medical records and helping patients organize information and questions for their care team, to researching potentially available financial resources and helping patients organize applications — so that adult children and spouses can step out of the role of "project manager" and simply go back to being family.

For Medical Clinics & Employers

In addition to private patient advocacy, Beacon Cancer Navigation partners directly with independent oncology clinics and forward-thinking employers across Colorado.

For Clinics: Beacon Cancer Navigation works with oncology practices and cancer programs as contracted non-clinical navigation support — helping patients stay organized, connected, and supported between visits, while helping reduce administrative burden on clinical staff.

For Employers: Beacon Cancer Navigation can complement existing EAP and employee-benefit resources, helping employees and caregivers organize workplace, leave, and administrative responsibilities during a cancer diagnosis.

"Whether I am mapping community resources for a newly diagnosed patient or helping a practice build structured non-clinical navigation workflows, my approach is the same: bring structure to the chaos, and ensure no one navigates this journey alone."

— Katherine Albert, Founder

What Is Patient Advocacy?

A Dedicated Guide for Your Journey

Independent patient navigators specialize in managing the complex logistical and administrative needs of cancer care. We bridge the gap between clinical treatment and daily life, working alongside your medical providers to help patients organize their priorities and questions for discussions with their licensed healthcare team.

Truly Independent

We work alongside your medical providers while keeping our focus entirely on you — your goals, your resources, and your peace of mind.

Transparent Communication

We help patients organize information provided by their medical team and identify questions requiring clarification. No hidden agendas.

Deeply Compassionate

We understand that behind every chart and appointment is a person and a family. We never lose sight of that.

Structured Navigation

We help patients document concerns and prepare questions for the appropriate healthcare professional or patient-relations resource.

How We Work

Virtual and In-Person — However You Need Us

We operate as a hybrid practice, which means we can support you wherever you are. Many of our services — research, financial resource sourcing, appointment coordination, and consultation preparation — are delivered virtually, making us accessible regardless of your location.

For clients who need or prefer in-person support — accompanying you to appointments, meeting with your care team, or providing hands-on caregiver relief — we offer that too. We work around your needs, not the other way around.
